legacy giving

Over the past five decades, Artpark has hosted tens of thousands of groundbreaking visual artists, cutting-edge theater, dance and cirque arts performers, beloved bands and musicians representing a multitude of genres, festivals featuring local, national and international artists, poets and writers, and more. Artpark has earned a worldwide reputation as a special place for people of all ages and walks of life to make and experience art.

This living cultural legacy weaves into the area’s history and present-day significance to Western New York’s Indigenous population and the Niagara River and Gorge’s extraordinary natural beauty, accessible to visitors through forested trails, sculpture gardens, and outdoor recreation areas. Artpark is all this and more thanks in large part to your support.

By establishing a planned gift at Artpark, you will help to ensure that future generations experience this natural and cultural treasure that is unlike any other. There are a variety of ways for you to leave a lasting legacy, while providing important tax and income benefits to you and your family.

Bequests
Artpark would be pleased to work with your financial and legal advisors to design a plan that best meets your philanthropic goals. Our federal tax ID# is 23-7086200.

Retirement Plans
One of the easiest ways to make a planned gift to Artpark is by making it the beneficiary of a retirement account such as an IRA, SEP, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement plan. This beneficiary designation can usually be accomplished by completing a beneficiary designation form either by mail or online and specifying Artpark & Company as the beneficiary of a dollar amount, a percentage, or the entire account. Due to new legislation, you can make gifts from your retirement assets during your lifetime. If you are at least 73 years old, you may make gifts directly to Artpark to satisfy your minimum distribution requirements without adding to your taxable income.

Life Insurance
Another way to make a significant gift is to make Artpark the beneficiary or owner of a new or existing life insurance policy. If you continue to pay the premiums after the gift of the policy, you can receive an income tax charitable deduction when each premium is paid.

Artpark gratefully recognizes longtime volunteer Jean Hackenheimer for her generous bequest.

Jean loved art and music. As an executive for the Carborundum Company, she traveled the country in the company jet and in each city she visited, she attended the opera and toured the art galleries. When Artpark opened in 1974, Jean found a place where she could experience the arts as she had in her travels. She became a dedicated Artpark volunteer and an enthusiastic supporter of the institution.

Jean retired early from Carborundum so she could spend more time at Artpark where she continued to volunteer until she was 90 years old.

In Jean’s later years, she was sustained by her memories of opera and art.  She lived until she was just shy of 102.

All of us at Artpark are so grateful for her generous planned gift.
