(Lewiston, NY) Artpark presents a double-dose of incredible blues music on August 6 as Walter Trout, the ex-Bluesbreakers leader, pairs up with slide guitar phenom Watermelon Slim to co-headline the venue’s “Wednesdays on the Gorge” free outdoor concert series, presented by HSBC Bank and HSBC Mortgage Corporation. All of Artpark’s free concert events begin at 6:30pm and include hands-on art workshops for children.
The evening’s concert sponsor is FCS Administrators.

(Lewiston, NY) Dickey Betts, Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame inductee, founding member of the Allman Brothers Band and one of Rolling Stone magazine’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All-Time,” rambles back into Artpark on August 5 with his band, Great Southern, to headline week 10 of the “First Niagara Tuesday in the Park” free outdoor concert series. Mick Hayes will serve as the opening act of the event, which begins at 6:30pm and features free hands-on art workshops for children.

(Lewiston, NY) Artpark’s final, free “Family Weekends” event of 2008 will explore the nuances of “Art & Science” on August 2-3 with a plethora of themed creative happenings that include still life drawings, fun with fossils, skeleton illustrations, paper marbling, fun with non-toxic slime, lemon juice paintings and a New York State Parks demonstration (Saturday ONLY) on area flowers and animal life.

(Lewiston, NY) Burgeoning Canadian rockers, the Sam Roberts Band, well known for ultra-addictive tunes like “Brother Down” and “Don’t Walk Away Eileen,” crosses the international on July 30 to headline Artpark’s “Wednesdays on the Gorge” free outdoor concert series. Presented by HSBC Bank and HSBC Mortgage Corporation, all “Wednesdays on the Gorge” events begin at 6:30pm and include hands-on art workshops for children.
In anticipation of a sizeable crowd, Artpark will be presenting two giant, on-site video screens for concertgoers’ viewing pleasure as it does on Tuesday evenings.

(Lewiston, NY) Gov’t Mule, the mighty Southern jam band paced by improvisational lead guitarist Warren Haynes, are the featured " and sole " musical act of the July 29 installment of the “First Niagara Tuesday in the Park” free outdoor concert series at Artpark. All of Artpark’s free concert events begin at 6:30pm and include hands-on art workshops for children.
There is no opening act as Gov’t Mule will play two full sets.

(Lewiston, NY) Western New York’s own “King of the Clarinet,” Salvatore Andolina, returns to Artpark on July 28 with his celebrated big band for a scintillating Artie Shaw Tribute. Andolina, who last appeared at Artpark in 2006 for a very well-received tribute to fellow swing icon Benny Goodman, is set to showcase all of Shaw’s unforgettable classics including “Begin the Beguine,” “Star Dust,” “Moonglow” and several others. Tickets for the performances, which take place at 2pm and 8pm, range from .50 to .50.

(Lewiston, NY) Artpark gets submerged in river-related creativity for the second installment of the venue’s FREE “Family Weekends,” set to take place July 19-20. Aptly titled “Aquatic Art,” the weekend’s themed activities will include the creation of reflective fish mobiles, amphibian Gyotaku prints, water color designs, fish hands and salt paintings. Also featured during “Aquatic Art” will be an aquatic life display from the Niagara Region Interpretive Programs Office of New York State Parks.

(Lewiston, NY) Artpark and the Buffalo Society of Artists have joined forces for the third consecutive summer to present the 2008 Buffalo Society of Artists Gallery at Artpark. The Gallery, located adjacent to Artpark’s Mainstage Theater in its former gallery store, will open beginning one hour prior to " and remain accessible throughout " most of Artpark’s theater performances, beginning with the July 12 Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra concert. Entrance to the gallery is free and does not require a ticket to that evening’s performance.

(Lewiston, NY) When David Clayton-Thomas last graced the Artpark stage, the venue’s Tuesday night concert series was still a burgeoning entity, interspersing a couple of national acts amongst a strong schedule of local bands whose tunes often enticed patrons to dance along a L-shaped, elevated boardwalk in the Upper Park.
That all changed on August 3, 2004.

(Lewiston, NY) Artpark President George Osborne and contest juror Robert L. Wood selected Lawrence Kinney’s “Spalted Device” as the ,500 grand prize recipient of the venue’s first annual outdoor sculpture competition 1/2 titled “Edges ’08” 1/2 at an onstage presentation earlier this month. Kinney’s winning entry is currently stationed adjacent to Artpark’s Mainstage Theater in the lower park.

(Lewiston, NY) Design work for the rehabilitation of the Amphitheater and renovations to the Mainstage Theater at the Earl W. Brydges Artpark are among the projects included in a 2 million plan to jumpstart the revitalization of New York State parks and historic sites. New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Carol Ash, Assemblywoman Francine DelMonte, Artpark & Company board chairman Christopher H. Brown and Artpark & Company president George Osborne announced the plans at a news conference at the park on Monday. The improvements will help ensure that Artpark continues to be a popular summertime cultural venue in Western New York.

Then, at 6:30pm, Bret Michaels, former Poison rocker and current VH1 reality television star, and his “Rock of Love Tour” commence an incredible 13-week run of “First Niagara Tuesday in the Park” free outdoor concerts, all of which include free hands-on art endeavors for children.
Both events take place onstage at Artpark’s Upper Park Outdoor Amphitheater.

(Lewiston, NY) The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation today officially announced a 10-year extension of its licensing agreement with Artpark & Company to continue programming events at the Lewiston, New York venue thru December 2017. Like the previous agreement, State Parks will be responsible for maintaining park buildings and grounds.
