ARTPARK PERCUSSION GARDEN: Beat Blossom opening concert
and exhibition
JULY 30 at 4pm
FREE
In collaboration with Buffalo-based sculptor, Shasti O’Leary Soudant and students from the University at Buffalo, Cyro Baptista an interactive sound-generating installation entitled “Beat Blossom” will come to life. Cyro will perform an original musical composition created especially for the installation at the Artpark Percussion Garden. The opening event will also include a concert with Cyro Baptista, Billy Martin, Brian Marsella, Slyboots Circus, UB Percussion Collective, and other local musicians on the Emerald Grove Stage in the Lower Park. The interactive event is free and open to all.
In the Artpark Percussion Garden, visitors explore different ways to interact and produce sound while posing curious questions on the nature of a performance, music-making and relationships within the natural environment of the park.
The Artpark Percussion Garden was launched in 2016 with the support of Charles D. and Mary A. Bauer Foundation and includes Chime Tree and Swingset by David Cossin (Bang on a Can), and Earth Drums by Glenn Kotche (Wilco) and is open to the public May-September.
