In the brilliant mind of Leonardo da Vinci, everything was connected -- anatomy, mechanics, drawings of interlacing patterns, bird flight studies, and even the face of his Mona Lisa. His mastery of a wide-range of disciplines reminds us of the infinite possibilities of human understanding and that our minds and imaginations are limitless.

“Leonardo wanted to paint the wind. Plasticiens Volants reinvent the master’s fantasies by sculpting the air.”
- Thierry Collin, Plasticiens Volants

In the North American premiere of “Leonardo, Dreams & Nightmares,” Plasticiens Volants returns to Artpark by popular demand to lead us on an all-ages journey into the mind and insatiable curiosity of Leonardo.

Plasticiens Volants is a 46-year-old institution based in Toulouse, France. Their unique street theater performances featuring giant original hand-painted inflatable creations have been seen in more than 23 countries by millions of people. They have performed at countless international festivals, major events such as the Olympic Games in Rio and Sochi and much more. They have also given unforgettable performances at Artpark which hosted their U.S. premieres of “Big Bang” in 2017 and “Pearl” in 2019. Audiences have been eagerly awaiting their return!

Please note the following for the event:

  • This performance will be held in Artpark’s parking Lot D (the large lot closest to the South 4th St. entrance). As a result, no parking will be allowed in this area and the South 4th St. entrance will be closed to vehicles. However, pedestrians will be permitted to enter through South 4th St.
  • Free parking will be available in Artpark’s upper lots, near the Amphitheater’s upper entrance. Access the park via the Portage Road entrance. Patrons will then walk down the red brick road or the Amphitheater stairs to the viewing area. ADA shuttles will be available for those who need transport. Allow for a 10-15 minute walk time down to the show site.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and note that some walking surfaces may be uneven
  • While the show is best experienced standing and moving under the inflatables, carry-in chairs are permitted and will be limited to a designated area in Lot D for the safety of the performers and other guests.
  • Gates will open at 7PM. Refreshments and snacks will be available.
  • At approximately 8:30PM, Plasticiens Volants will begin a procession from adjacent parking Lot C (the Gene Davis “Niagara 1979” painted lot) to Lot D. Those who wish to join the procession are welcome.
  • The main performance will begin after sundown at 9PM and will last approximately one hour
  • You are welcome to touch the inflatables if they come near you, but please do not grab or pull them.

Artpark is also hosting a benefit prior to this performance in the Mainstage Theater Terrace. More info can be found here!
