Artpark Truckin' FURTHUR This Summer!
The long, strange 45-year trip of Phil Lesh and Bob Weir will make a pit stop in Lewiston
(Lewiston, NY) Get ready to experience jam band bliss! Phil Lesh and Bob Weir's latest project, Furthur (http://www.furthur.net/ ) will be presented by Live Nation at Artpark's Mainstage Theater on July 8 at 7pm. Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 5 at 10am. Lesh and Weir teamed up with Jeff Chimenti of RatDog on keyboards, John Kadlecik of Dark Star Orchestra on guitar, Jay Lane of RatDog on drums, and Joe Russo of the Benevento/Russo Duo on drums to form the group in September of 2009.
Ever since Jerry Garcia died in 1995, the members of the iconic American jam band, the Grateful Dead, have continued on in various different solo groups and projects. In 2009, after four years of not playing together, Phil Lesh and Bob Weir formed Furthur to repair their musical relationship. Furthur is named for the 1939 psychedelic painted school bus owned by author Ken Kesey and was used in the '60s as transportation for the writer's extended family, the Merry Pranksters. The band followed their 2009 debut with only a handful of performances before launching a full U.S. tour in January 2010. Next week, Furthur will conclude the first leg of their tour with a 70th Birthday bash for Phil Lesh in San Fransisco.
Tickets are $39.50 for indoor and lawn seating.
