An Evening with Railroad Earth!
New Jersey Jam Band performs Two Sets at Artpark August 5!
(Lewiston, NY) Artpark presents a much-anticipated evening with Railroad Earth as part of the venue's increasingly popular "Wednesday on the Gorge" free outdoor concert series! The band will play two full sets (no opening act) on August 5. The concert starts at 6:30PM. Railroad Earth (http://www.railroadearth.com/ ) started in 2001 in Stillwater, New Jersey as a bunch of talented buddies strumming some rootsy music together. A five song demo earned them a spot at the prominent Telluride Bluegrass Festival. The group's performance at the festival proved that their music could go well beyond the realm of traditional bluegrass to incorporate folk, Celtic, jazz, and rock music which caught the attention of Sugar Hill records, who immediately signed them. Four of the songs from the demo ("Head," "Black Bear," "Stillwater Getaway," and "Cold Water") plus six new songs recorded in April 2001 became the band's debut CD, The Black Bear Sessions. Railroad Earth broadened their songwriting late in 2001, carrying on the improvisational, multiple-genre tradition started by the Grateful Dead, String Cheese Incident, Phish , and Leftover Salmon.
Presented by HSBC Bank and HSBC Mortgage Corporation, all of the "Wednesdays on the Gorge" events begin at 6:30pm and include free hands-on art workshops for children beginning at 5:30 pm.
"Wednesdays on the Gorge" is also supported by, Certo Brothers Distributing Company, Chiampou, Travis, Besaw & Kershner, Harris Beach, Modern Corporation, the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission, Time Warner Cable, Pepsi, Generations Music, and the Talking Phone Book.
