“Town Mouse, Country Mouse” Scurry into Artpark this Spring!

(Lewiston, NY)  "Town Mouse, Country Mouse" is the original tale of two endearing literary characters, who explore each other's lives to determine, once and for all, if the grass truly is greener on the other side.  Then it's perfectly fitting that Artpark, where the grass is always green, will serve as the host for a field-trip friendly theatrical adaptation of Aesop's classic fable, which is set to take place in the venue's Mainstage Theater on Thursday, May 28, 2009.  Tickets to the 10am and 11:30am performances are only $5 prior to February 1 and $6 afterwards.  Each 50-minute performance is followed by a brief question-and-answer session with cast members.

"Town Mouse, Country Mouse" is suitable for children in grades kindergarten thru four, and includes a performance-related study guide to round out a budget-friendly, educational and inspirational event.

Originally created by Aesop, history's greatest fable maker, Town Mouse and Country Mouse are two of the world's most beloved characters.  Tired of their own lives and hoping to trade them in for something better, the Town Mouse and the Country Mouse switch places and discover the unexpected hazards of their new worlds, ultimately discovering that there's no place like home.

The Artpark performance is being produced by ArtReach, the theatrical and dramatic arts outreach division of The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati, whose mission is to bring high-quality theater productions and workshops directly to schools and selected venues in order to increase student and family exposure to the arts.  ArtReach Touring Theatre was founded by Kathryn Schultz Miller and Barry Miller in 1976, and the innovative organization was named "Best New Children's Theatre" in the United States by the Children's Theatre Association of America in 1983.

The on-school-time performance of "Town Mouse, Country Mouse" will officially kick off Artpark's 35th Anniversary Season.  To order tickets and / or request an informational brochure, please call the Artpark Box Office at (716) 754-4375 or visit www.artpark.net.
