(Lewiston, NY) Artpark has been making performance art history for more than 35 years in its Mainstage Theater on the Niagara River Gorge. Artpark & Company, Inc., the not-for-profit organization that programs the park's dynamic summer events, fully intends to present and produce many more decades of unforgettable experiences in this unique venue. They simply plan to do so more comfortably.
One year removed from completing several significant structural renovations, Artpark's Theater will feature a dramatic, fresh interior color scheme highlighted by the long-awaited installation of new padded seats in the middle sections of the grand and first tiers.
To make the introduction of these new padded seats even more special to theatergoers and help offset some of the costs incurred with the numerous theater renovations, Artpark is also unveiling a theater seat plaque naming campaign. Any individuals or corporations wishing to have their names emblazoned on a brass plaque that will adhere to the new seatbacks are invited to do so for $250. This is a great way for patrons to honor a family member or friend, or to show that their family or company supports Artpark.
The personalized plaques are just $250 apiece regardless of the seat's location in the theater.
Artpark's Mainstage Theater underwent several structural repairs prior to last summer including the replacement of a leaking roof, upgraded theatrical lighting, and a complete renovation of the 35 year old stage. Improvements slated to be completed for 2009 are underscored by the new theater seats, and also feature a freshly painted interior with a contemporary ambience and brand new draperies adorning the facility's majestic walls.
Artpark & Company recently completed its twelfth season of operating park programming under a licensed agreement with New York State Parks, a pact which was extended for another decade this past June. The not-for-profit organization was directly responsible for the influx of more than 230,000 visitors to scheduled events in 2008. These figures - which have risen by 174% since 2002 - are event estimates only and do not include fishermen, hikers and picnickers who comprise another large segment of Artpark's visitors. The park also captured its third consecutive award as "Best Outdoor Music Series in WNY" from Buffalo Spree.
