(Lewiston, NY)  Those who enjoy the free, family-friendly, artistic activities that Artpark offers in conjunction with its outdoor concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings now have the opportunity to double their creative pleasure.  Beginning July 12-13, Artpark's FAMILY WEEKENDS offer visitors the unique chance to partake in an even greater collection of hands-on art workshops under the guidance of professional artists.  All Artpark "Family Weekend" events are free and take place on Saturdays on Sundays thru August 3 from noon until 4pm.

Activities, which include traditional Artpark art areas like the Costume Closet, Paint Space, the pottery wheel, still-life drawing and temporary tattooing, will once again also be tailored towards a particular theme each week.  Art in Motion (July 12-13) kicks off the quartet of creative weekends with Saturday's Kite Club Air Show, and places an emphasis on constructing crafts that move such as colorful toy cars, paper gliders, tissue paper parachutes and Jackson Pollock-style paintings.

Artpark's "Family Weekends" also includes a "Tot Spot," consisting of a selection of simplified art happenings, a sandbox, fun with earthmovers and other goings-on for children ages two through five.

Upcoming weekend themes include Aquatic Art (July 19-20), Enviro Art (July 26-27) and Art & Science (August 2-3).  All three will also feature related presentations by the Niagara Region Interpretive Programs Office of New York State Parks.

Artpark's family and children's programming is made possible in part by the generous support of the Modern Corporation, the Town of Lewiston and the Niagara County Legislature.

For a full schedule of 2008 events, call the Artpark Box Office at (716) 754-4375 or visit artpark.net.
