Artpark introduces a special week of Celtic Music Camp for young musicians ages 12 - 17 seeking to explore tradtional elements of Celtic Music. Enrollees would be accepted based on a minimum of two years experience on their respective instruments: violin, viola, cello, flute, whistle, accordion, tenor (4 string) banjo, folk harp, bodhran, mandolin, acoustic guitar, cittern and piano. A fundamental ability to read music for the melody instruments is required.
A week of instruction by gifted Celtic musicians would be in traditional fiddle, flute & whistle, bodhran etc. culminating with a live performance on Saturday August 18 at 2pm. Music would be focused primarily on cultures of Ireland, Scotland and Wales, along with components of Brittany, Galicia, Isle of Man and Northumbria.
Various adjunct artists will be brought in to present certain elements of traditional music and as well as Celtic culture including a bag pipes demonstration, a seanchaĆ (storyteller), Irish and Scottish dancers, and more!
Camp takes place Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm. Enrollment for the week is $250. Camp enrollments are limited as one-on-one instruction is emphasized, Celtic Music Camp is suitable for ages 12-17 with a minimum of 2 years experience on their instrument.
