Originally created by Aesop, history's greatest fable maker, Town Mouse and Country Mouse are two of the world’s most beloved characters. Tired of their own lives and hoping to trade them in for something better, the Town Mouse and the Country Mouse switch places and discover the unexpected hazards of their new worlds, ultimately discovering that there’s no place like home.
Artpark will serve as the host for a field-trip friendly theatrical adaptation of Aesop’s classic fable, which is followed by a brief question-and-answer session with cast members. The 50-minute performance of “Town Mouse, Country Mouse” is suitable for children in grades kindergarten thru four, and includes a performance-related study guide to round out a budget-friendly, educational and inspirational event.
The show is being produced by ArtReach, the theatrical and dramatic arts outreach division of The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati, whose mission is to bring high-quality theater productions and workshops directly to schools and selected venues in order to increase student and family exposure to the arts. ArtReach was named Best New Children's Theatre in the United States by the Children's Theatre Association of America in 1983.
